I have enjoyed the privilege of experiencing Amie Talbot’s talent firsthand in my combined grade 3 and 4 elementary classroom at St. Gabriel Catholic School, when she agreed to visit and instruct my students on the art of pencil crayon drawing. Her much-anticipated lesson was inspiring to all of my young little artists and left everyone wishing to pursue further studies in her chosen art medium.

Amie arrived at my school with all of the supplies required for the class to participate in her demonstration. Before beginning the instruction, Amie introduced herself and gave the students an overview of her work, showing samples of her finished products. We were all astonished to learn that such incredible works of art could be achieved using only pencil crayons. The students in this particular class were at a variety of different levels of learning and Amie was able to meet the needs of even the most challenged students in the group. Her choice of activity was developmentally-appropriate and resulted in successful final products that the children were proud to display in class and later take home to their parents. Amie was able to engage every student’s attention during the lesson and maintain positive classroom management throughout her instructional time. Her expectations were articulated clearly and she provided effective encouragement to the students as they progressed through the art project. 

I was very impressed with Amie’s overall presentation, teaching skills, ability to motivate the students and remarkable artistic talent. I would highly recommend her to anyone and certainly hope to have her back again in my classroom.

Amie has come into my grade 3/4 class two years in a row now. Her pencil crayon workshops are amazing! She has students engaged and on task the entire time. I was shocked and pleasantly surprised on both occasions at the level that some of my high and special-needs students were able to participate, stay focused and remain on task for the entire two hours. Amie includes the students in her teaching, shares her love of art, and enables the students to work within a "growth mindset" so they they don't give up when things get hard or they become frustrated. She is professional, fun, and entertaining. The students absolutely LOVE these workshops and ask for her to come back every time. Her artwork is stunning, and she shares her journey as an artist with the students.
